A sample of what fun we have in Mark Kistler's Summer Art Action Weeks!

Dear Parents,

Welcome to my children's "Drawing in 3-D" summer workshop series. I have many cool and creative 3-D drawing adventures planned for your little geniuses. To help get the most out of our daily "Art Action" classes I encourage the children to practice 19 hours each evening. You can help them by drawing with them and motivating them to complete each evening's "At Home Drawing Challenge." If you have any questions or concerns about the class, please speak to me personally. My goal is to make this a fun and memorable learning experience for everyone involved. I've listed important information points for each of our 5 days together. Please read over these to help prepare your child for each day's lesson. I've also listed answers to a few common questions asked by parents. Your kids are in for a fun week of 3-D imagination, pencil power, dynamic drawing, cool creative, amazing adventures.

Monday: "Furbles tilting totally tall towers towards Tasmania!"
Today everyone receives his or her very own "Pencil Power Portfolio." Students need to bring this to class each day. Each day of the class we will be adding important reference material to stick inside this portfolio. This material includes practice drawing paper, "The 12 Renaissance Words Chart," the "22 Art Accents," and the "Less TV More Drawing" contract. Everyone needs to sign the "Less TV" contract and hang it on the kitchen refrigerator at home. If space permits, tomorrow is "Bring a Friend Day." If your class has seating room available, your child will be invited to bring a friend one day for free. Why? Kids who have neighborhood friends will draw with them and they will practice much more throughout the summer. Let's replace the national children's summer daily average of 6 television viewing hours with creative 3-D drawing! I will announce which classes will have seating room available for "Bring a Friend Day" at the end of class today.

At Home Challenge: How many tall tables can you stack on the roll of paper? Be sure to add Foreshortening, Shading, and Shadows!

Tuesday: "Super Space Saucers Swarming South"
Today is "Bring a Friend Day" for the classes that I have determined have seating available. Be sure to turn in your "At Home Challenge" each day of the class. We are going to hang them on the walls, creating the most spectacular genius art action cool 3-D drawing display the world has ever seen! Your "Less TV More 3-D Drawing" contract should be hanging on your refrigerator at home.

At Home Challenge: How many 3-D Foreshortened super saucers can you draw on one piece of paper? You may use any size paper you want. If you want to go really crazy add a "Land of Doors" below the swarming saucers.

Wednesday: "An Undersea Odyssey"
If you brought a friend to class yesterday be sure to arrange a time each afternoon to draw with your buddy. You can teach them what you are learning in class. What a fun summer club to organize! Today everyone needs to autograph the Summer Class T-Shirt silk screen master art board. I want everyone's signature on the back of the shirt. You do not need to order a shirt to have your autograph printed on it. I print up several extra shirts for myself, and the cool class volunteers, and we want everyone's signature on the back!

At Home Challenge: What kind of "Undersea Odyssey Party of the Century" will you draw tonight? Try not to stay up past 3:00 a.m. drawing this challenge. We have a big drawing day tomorrow!

Thursday: "Dynamic Dinosaurs Dwelling in Dino-Town"
Today we will be reviewing the 12 Renaissance Words of 3-D Drawing. If you want to stand up in front of class and recite all 12 words put your name on the board at the beginning of class. Once you learn these 12 Renaissance Words you can draw anything in 3-D! Be sure to practice these words with your drawing buddy at home. 3-D artists are WINNERS!

At Home Challenge: I wonder what kind of amazing land of Dinosaurs you will create tonight? How many different kinds of exotic Dinosaurs will you add to your 3-D masterpiece? Dinosaur artists are WINNERS! Be sure to sign the T-shirt Autograph board if you have not done so. T-shirt orders are due in today.

Friday: "Totally Terrific Time Travels"
Put your mane on the board if you want to recite the 2 Renaissnce Words of 3-D drawing. You need to collect all your brilliant drawings off the walls today, take them home and add them to your summer refrigerator art gallery! Last day to get your autograph on the summer drawing in 3-D class T-shirt. Pracice your amazing drawing skill with your neighbor, drawing buddy every day, all summer long! 3-D artists are WINNERS! Dream it, Draw it, Do it!
